Genius Fit

A huge part of our health is inherited from our parents. Did you know the majority of our genetics can be turned on or off depending on our lifestyle? Welcome to the fascinating and empowering world of epigenetics. Let's test 157 of your genes known to influence things like your mood, cognition, substance abuse, weight balance, metabolic health, inflammation, detoxification, allergies, cardiac health, and more. This genetic test is only needed once in a lifetime, because your genes don't change. In this program you will learn about your genetic predispositions and learn to take actionable steps to make sure that you are the one in control (and not your genetics!). A huge part of keeping your genes from turning against you is exercise. You will meet with Dr. Theodora and she will write you a custom exercise program and assign it to you within a fitness app. She will also meet with you 1:1 again to review your genetic results and add notes on how you can further optimize your fitness routine based on your genetics!

Why the OMEN Wellness
Journey incorporates

genetic testing

Genetics are not necessarily destiny! Have you ever heard the expression genetics loads the gun, but environment pulls the trigger? This is often the case for a variety of illnesses we develop as adults. For example, there are variations in genes such as MTHFR and COMT that determine our likelihood for mental health conditions. If you find out you have these genetic variations, it doesn't mean you have to suffer with your mental health. These genes can be turned OFF with the right lifestyle! A simple saliva test can reveal much more than your predisposition to mental health issues. We can also see if you have genes which may interfere with your detoxification pathways, or if you are predisposed to Alzheimer's disease or cardiovascular disease and more. Specific recommendations can be made based on your genetics on many other lifestyle topics as well, such as but not limited to caffeine intake, appetite, metabolism and athletic ability.

One very common epigenetic concern is regarding the body's ability to utilize folate and vitamin B12, which is require in order for a very important process called methylation to occur. Methylation is a chemical process that happens in every single cell in our body billions of times per second! If you are having problems methylating, you will likely have issues with mood, energy production, and detoxification. Furthermore, there are correlations which suggest that women with these variations in the MTHFR gene are more likely to experience miscarriages.

It is estimated that 30-40% of the population has variations in the MTHFR gene that interferes with methylation! And by the way, this means your supplements which contain cheap/synthetic folic acid and cyanocobalamin are NOT the best option for you.

Synthetic B vitamins are problematic for more than one reason. In the video below, there is a section where I discuss a study published in JAMA discussing the potential health ramifications observed in the people who were using synthetic B-vitamins.
